plop saysSun 14th Dec 08@08:49 amanother very practical lesson that can be used in say to day situation - check vocabulary : translation of university looks not correct to me
-
I guess you are talking about (ArabicPod Dictionary), as we didn't use the word (university) in this lesson.
Well, (university) means (جامعة), in other words (the place that gathers people), and this what university does. -
thanks ehab but check the voc. There is سييارة for university - i just mention it - cheers

Marhaba,
I have been most delightfully going through your great website (& my many great thanks to you all for your time & efforts in putting up this extraordinary project)!
My fascination with languages brings me here to compare Arabic to its sister languages: Hebrew & others-such as Aramaic (& the similarities-with varying pronunciations) are STRIKING!!
(if ONLY we could all learn to discover & focus on them between us all, humans-rather on the differences..!).
Might I only ask one thing:
I've noticed that your lessons are NOT sequential in numbers. For example: you'd have lesson # 91 but not 92 & 93, etc..
Any reason for it? And if they are sequential-where can the "missing ones" be found?
I'd thank you for your kind reply,
Bashukrak Lakum Qatheer

Yes plop,, indeed you are right,, it is a mistake and we will sort it out soon.
AviK, thanks for your nice words.. regarding to the numbering of the lessons,, you need to look at other level categories not just beginner, for instance, lesson 92 is lower intermediate, lesson 93 is intermediate.. so the best thing to follow is the level rather than the number. -
Another wonderful lesson.

Katar Kheirak, ya Ehab!
I'll follow your (very sensible) advice! -
I am finding that since I am learning your chat arabic writing system it is helping me pick up on normal arabic writing.
I have tried learning the writing system many times but Arabic pod has made it so simple.
Good work guys. -
nice

i am having trouble in a case such as this lesson when "ma" means "what" versus when "ma" is used to negate something. Your help is appreciated.
-
@stagediva432, simply when ما is followed by a noun then it means what, if it's followed by a verb it negates it. Examples:
ما إسمك
What's your name
ما أكل
He did not eat
ما سيارتك
What's your car
ما يفتح
It does not open -
Attafarraj...is this a classical word?
When do you use it instead of ishaahidu, araa etc. other words for look.
Thanks...

You need to know how to say "This is mine" in Arabic, otherwise people will be lurking all around your stuff, especially if you're a wealthy individual! There are many ways to say this phrase in Arabic but we teach you how to say it the classical way which will definitely be understood throughout.
