In this lesson you say

خمسة جنيه

would it technically be more correct to say

خمس جنيات؟

This dialogue is colloquial as you probably noticed, in colloquial some grammars are not applied, and that’s why جنيه was in singular form and this is how people say it in the street. However, other currencies like دينار or درهم take the plural form, like خمسة دنانير or خمسة دراهم .

سمعت <خمسة جنيهات من فضلك> من تجيل تعليمي <لينجافون> وأظن كما قلت نحن لن نسمع هذه عبارة في شوارع القاهرة ابدا

I was just curious. I know in Yemen people do not use the plural of riyal in the street either. Thanks for the clarification
