Intermediate - Knee injury

هذا درس ممتز جدّاً، لكن عندي زخم أسئلة

ما نوع كلمة << دع >> من <<دعني>>؟ هل هي فعل الأمر؟ الماضي؟ أو هل هي إسم؟ أراها في كتُب وجرائد في كل الوقت.
كيف نستخدم <<كان يجب>> في وضع آخراً؟ يمكن أن نقول <<كان يجب عليني>> أو <<كان يجب عليكم>>؟

كلمة (دع) هي فعل أمر, أما (كان يجب) فهي مستخدمة كثيراً في حال النصيحة على شئ قد حصل و إنتهى, بإمكانك أن تقول (كان يجب علي) أو (كان يجب عليكم) و كلاهما صحيح, أما (كان يجب عليني) فهي خطأ لأنه النون غير ضرورية هنا.

This is the correct level for me. I learn a lot here, with longer texts and discussions in both arabic and english.

Just one problem for me though is...reading the transliterations where numbers are used for the specific arabic letters not found in English.

All along, my lessons have substituted capital letters and double letters for this (H for ح T for ط ss forص dth for ض dh forذ : It has been easier to read.

Question: In the sentence where the doctor says (tadhhab)تذهب since it's in the past tense isn't it supposed to be (Dhahaba)ذهب please explain.

I think you mean the sentence where the doctor says: "You ought to have gone to see a doctor." The verb "tadhab" is in the present tense. Pastness is expressed by "kaan", which is placed at the beginning of the sentence. The Arabic construction is completely different from its English counterpart.
