There is a 'silent' alif at the end of تَف ضَّ لوا - why is it there please?
-
Good question. This (alif- الف) is called (alef altafreeq الف التفريق) which is used to differentiate the type of letter (waw واو) that proceeds it, as there are many types of letter (waw واو) in Arabic. It is a topic on its own, so inshallah we might do a lesson about it.

Lower Intermediate - From the neighbours
August 25th, 2009 | 1 comment |
Neighbours have a very special and important status in the Arab culture. It is not uncommon to see neighbours sharing food and mutual respect with one another. In today's lesson, we go through a typical scenario where one offers his neighbour a delicious treat. As you can imagine, this is a culturally rich lesson as well as an Arabic one so be sure not to miss it.
