Hay Oxyii,
Good idea for a lesson. Shame we haven't arranged one to coincide with this Christmas and new year, maybe next year... -
Hi. I've heard people say "salamtak," but not "salamatak." Is "salamtak" just a shortened way of saying "salamatak"? By the way, I liked the picture today...is that the Nasta3liq (نستعليق) style of script? Thanks.

Hay ja3r, yes "salamtak" is just a shortened way of saying "salaamatak", the vowel after m is not pronounced. Often in colloquial dialects you will find this happening. The writing style that is used in the picture is called Farsi الخط الفارسي

Guys - do you know the origin of the song - one of my Saudi friends says he remembers it from children's TV?
-
I think the song is from a program that used to come ages ago on one of the Arabic channels. It wasn’t a children’s program, it was a program on general health and safety

It seems that we often come across a song that consists of a few sentences; we go through such a song today. Short songs like this are good for language learners since then they can happily say that they understood the whole song after learning the few phrases that appeared in it. There's plenty of useful vocabulary in today's lesson so tune in and by the end of it you can boast to your friends that you can understand a whole Arabic song!
