dcundy saysSat 15th May 10@02:01 amI just wanted to say that the castles in Ajlun and Karak are wonderful. One is an Arab castle and one is a crusader castle. (Sorry, not a language comment!)

"The Red Fortress” is an amazing castle in Granada, Spain. There’s a video podcast about it. By the way, these are additional vocabulary that you might find useful with castles:
قديمة – Qadeemah – Old
كبيرة – Kabeerah – Big
دفاع – Defaa3 – Defense
جيش – Jaysh - Army
-
Another fantastic fortress not to miss is the Hosn Citadel in Syria (قلعة الحصن, also known as Krak des Chevaliers)!
My dictionary says that both words in arabic are used for "fortress", but as the Aleppo citadel is called (قلعة حلب), I assume (قلعة) is used rather as a translation for "citadel".
In Hosn I found a sign saying
(برج القائد)/Command Tower.
Would this word also be used for "Watch Tower"? -
Nice comments all. Na7lah, (Watchtower) is (Burj muraaqabah برج مراقبة) by the way.

ehab for long time i wonder on your forehead there s glasses? i mean in the pic : ) not related with the lesson sorry... but i m just curious

Nice comment Sindibad, it took me a while to figure out Ehab's glasses in the pic ههه ;-)
BTW, Ehab, how to say in Arabic: "Don't miss this (unique) chance!" -
Oh, probably I should put more recent picture, something taken while recording.
It is (لا تُضيّع هذه الفرصة), Na7la. And the pronunciation is (laa tu9'ayye3 haad'ihi alfur9ah). -

In today's lesson, there are a few phrases you might want to add to your treasure chest of useful vocabulary. Mohamed and Ehab teach you how to advise someone to do or see something, as well as how to give a good excuse if you are unable to take up their suggestion.
