المرّ ة الجاي should the wordالجاي not carry a ة ?

Good question, Plop. The term (المرّ ة الجاي) is colloquial, and people in the street tend to say it in both forms i.e (المرة الجاية) and (المرّ ة الجاي).
If I was to use the classical way of saying (Next Time), then (المرة القادمة) would be used. Notice classical Arabic tend to follow grammars strictly unlike colloquial Arabic.
