Beginner - Levantine: What's the Time?

Thanks for yet another nice lesson. There was no explanation about ثلث in the phrase السّاعة الواحدة و الثلث in the podcast. I guess ثلث means 'one third'. So does it mean that it is one third of 60 minutes, ie 20 minutues?

@vinod yes ثلث means a third, so in context of time 20 minutes. I think they did say 20 minutes in the podcast

What's the difference between saying "انا تاخرت" and "كنت متاخر" ? Are they both "I was late"? Which would be the correct, or more typical way to say it?

Using either of (أنا تأخرت) or (كنت متأخر) is correct and they can be used instead of each other in the street and even in MSA.
The slight difference comes in the sense that (أنا تأخرت) describes a situation of being late in the past in an open time scale and giving time less emphasis , while (كنت متأخر) specifies certain short period of time in the past that I was late at, which normally comes with another action associated with it, like in saying (I was late when the class had started كنت متأخر عندما بدأت الحصة), notice here the other action is starting the class and it is necessary to complete the sentence with it, while if (أنا تأخرت) is to be used, then it would not need to be associated with another event, so one can say (I was late أنا تأخر عن الحصة).
As you see, it is very fine difference, and I hope it is clear to you.

I know this is a lesson from a long time ago, and looking at the "Sorry Kiteer" lesson I get the impression كتير the Levantine word for جدا ?: is this correct, or is كتير only used in specific circumstances?

Yes climacus, the word (kiteer كتير) is the colloquial way of saying (katheer كثير) which means (a lot or very).
