Beginner - Levantine: Valentine's Day

I have also seen the expression
اني مشتقين
Particularly in the Gulf/Iraq when expression, to generally mean "I miss you".

Does that make sense? Also, the "qaf" is pronounced so it definitely gives it a different ring to it. I enjoyed hearing/seeing the Levant pronunciation.

ﺍﻤﺘﻰ is an exceptionally useful word. It is used in Egyptian as well as in South Levantine Arabic. There are a great many popular songs that begin with ﺍﻤﺘﻰ, e.g. “imta 'anaa ashuufak?” (When shall I see you?), “imta hashuufak?” (When shall I see you?) and “imta hata’rif” (When will you realise?).

Especially enjoyed learning what the name "Omar" means. We all enjoyed seeing Omar Sharif, the charismatic actor, as children.

Tomes, as you used (مشتاقين) which is in the plural form, then the word (إحنا We) should be used with it instead of (إني), and yes, it makes sense, and it is widely used as (we miss you) though one person might be talking.

Thanks for the responses. You know I was listening to some Arabic pop songs and realized that in Lebanon, I think or maybe it's Egyptian dialect they use وهشك to mean "I miss you"...maybe I'm miss hearing it. But anyway just another way to say it I suppose. Gotta love Arabic's diversity and power of language!

Egyptions usaally say: وحشنی means i miss you
but Lebanese say: اشتقتلک(eshtaatellak) which means I miss you.
