أَضافَ / يضيف (a9’aafa / yu9’eef) (= to add) (root ض ي ف) is conjugated similar to أراد / يريد (araada / yureed) (= to want) (root ر و د). Both are form 4 Hollow verbs. ‘I added’ is أضفت (a9’aftu), and, ‘I wanted’ is أردت (aradtu).

Except in a humorous context, in Britain, the title professor is restricted to someone who holds that 'seat' in a particular faculty of a university whereas, in the USA, the term is used more generally. Other teachers in UK universities are simply lecturers. A professor emeritus is someone who has retired from holding such a seat.
