Does يحِسّ refer just to a feeling-thought rather than a sensed feeling?

PS 'a little week' should be 'a little weak'.

‘to feel’ can mean ‘to experience a PHYSICAL sensation’ or ‘to have an EMOTIONAL feeling or psychological awareness’.

The doubled verb (from root ح س س )
حسّ / يحسّ
7assa / ya7issu (Form 1)
or
أحسّ بـ / يحسّ بـ
a7assa bi / yu7issu bi (Form 4)
can be used in BOTH the contexts.

Another verb, شعر بـ / يشعر بـ

(Form 1 regular, Root ش ع ر )
also means ‘to feel’.

I notice the usage of شعر بـ is preferred when you want to say ‘to feel pain / hunger’

Thanks vinod, I had wondered if يشعر بـ might have a more physical nuance, thinking of the sensory rôle hair- شعر can have though Hans Wehr refers to intuitive feeling and hair (eg standing on end) can also reflect an emotional state. Also, I noted in HW, يحسّ can mean to probe by touch. I still find using HW a bit of a challenge eg looking for يُحسّن - to improve - which, in spite of the shaddah, appears to come from the حسن root - to be handsome or beautify.

The subtle meaning of 'a feeling' can be complex in English, with some psychologists distinguishing it technically as a sensation or an emotive thought but not basic emotion, although the latter is also 'felt'!
