Finally catching up on missed podcasts...thank you as always for great lessons.
May I ask what the difference is between المنزل and البيت? I learnt بيت for house...; and sadly since I moved away to get a job I no longer have Lebanese people around me to bother with questions! :)

They both can be usually interchangeably, but mostly بيت means House and منزل means Home. -

why not just say adhab (I'm going)or sa-adhab (future tense) versus dhaahib?

The verb (ad'hab أذهب) is a present tense verb and it means (I go). On the other hand (d'aahib ذاهب) describes a continuous situation, and that is why you use it while doing the action or when you emphasise your willingness to do something, which was the case in this dialogue hence (d'aahib ذاهب) was used.
