The very first word in the transcript of this lesson makes me write the following comment.

يعد
This word without diacritical marks is an extremely confusing word for someone who is learning Arabic. As far as I know, it has SEVEN different meanings!

يَعُدُّ - ya3uddu – he is counting or considering
From Form 1 Doubled verb عَدَّ
Root - ع د د

يُعِدُّ لـ - yu3iddu li – he is preparing for
From Form 4 Doubled verb أعَدَّ
Root - ع د د

يَعِدُ بـ - ya3idu bi – he is promising
From Form 1 Assimilated verb وَعَدَ
Root - و ع د

يَعُد - ya3ud – Jussive of ya3ood – he is coming back
From Form 1 Hollow verb عادَ
Root - ع و د

يُعِد – yu3id - Jussive of yu3eed – he is repeating
From Form 4 Hollow verb أعادَ
Root - ع و د

يُعَدُّ - yu3addu - Present Passive of both ya3uddu & yu3iddu – he is counted or considered & he is prepared

Meaning of يعد without diacritical marks has to be deduced from the context, and from the presence or absence of preposition following it.

Thank you Vinod for clarifying this. It also clarifies for me something that was confusing in the PLC for the Reelected Mayor podcast of last year. In he PLC the word was used in the "preparing" sense and in the regular lesson, it was used in the repeating sense.
