Lower Intermediate - Don't blame me

Hi guys ,

The PLC was very useful for grammar of the long vowel negative shortening sound. I never fully understood it.

Also, this lesson was obviously in MSA, how would aamiyah dialect sound with this one? Would dialects actually use الذي for emphasis on who is doing something?

@tomest05, there is an equivalent word for الذي and التي in the street, and it's اللي pronounced Ellly

This word is used regardless of the gender.

The equivalent colloquial way of asking that question in the first sentence would be
مين اللي ترك الثلاثة مفتوحة؟

"Man" has been substituted with "meen" and "allad'y" has been substituted with "ellly"

I just stuck on using ليس. doesn't it change depending the gender? what about لست. where should it be used? can't we say لست انا for "not me"?

Here is a summary of the usage of (laysa ليس):

Lastu Ahmed(I am not Ahmed) لست أحمد

Ahmed laysa akhi (Ahmed is not my brother) أحمد ليس أخي

Salma laysat ukhti (Salma is not my sister) سلمى ليست أختي

Lasnaa a3'biyaa2 (we are not stupid) لسنا أغبياء

Laysoo a3'biyaa2 (they are not stupid) ليسوا أغبياء

so i assume both ليس انا (laysa ana) and لست انا (lastu ene) are correct. maybe one of them classical the other colloquial??

Great lesson, as always! I have a question: How does the verb talomny change if I was talking to a group of males, or a group of females, or about a group, or addressing both of my parents for example? You (2 person dual) are blaming me. These present tense verbs already have suffixes and how do they go together with the ya (me)? I understand the answer is to long and complicated for a comment here but maybe take it as a suggestion for future lesson, inshallah. Masalama!
