The word (annaas - the people) is considered as a feminine word, so you use the feminine prefix of the present verb with it which is (ta).
You say: Ahmed yasta3'rib (Ahmed is masculine)
and: Salwa tasta3'rib (Salwa is feminine).
So as the word (annaas) is considered feminine then it takes (tasta3'rib).
