You just need to make the verb احول to be أحلّ so the sentence becomes:
لا أستطيع أن أحلّ هذه المشكلة
To pronounce the verb, you need to put some stress on the (laam), so أحلّ is pronounced like A7ELLO and تحلّ is pronounced like TA7ELLO.

Here we go, I've got a riddle for all of you:
What occurs once in a minute, twice in a moment and never in a thousand years?
should be easy ;-) -
It is easy,, "m" :)
How about this one guys, I just translated the English one into Arabic and made it work perfectly:
ما الذي تجده مرة واحدة في الدقيقة و مرتين في الدقيقتين و لا تجده في ألف سنة؟
;) -
Can "طبق" also be considered as a good translation for plate? That's the only word I've known for it, and was surprised to hear another one.
-
Afreeqiya and kt_m_smith, both words (طبق) and (صحن) can be used instead of each other. The precise meaning for each is: (طبق) is the plate which is nearly flat while (صحن) is the dish which is more curved.

looking to your transcription i see a "2" but do not find it in the table on top of the pdf file - am I right to think this is a "hamza" (where do i find the hamza on the keyboard) ?
cheers -
Yes 2 is equivalent to hamza. On the Arabic keyboard used for this discussion page, the hamza ء is around the bottom left of the keyboard which is where the letter X is at

ما الذي تجده مرة واحدة في الدقيقة و مرتين في الدقيقتين و لا تجده في ألف سنة؟
I thought of letter (ق) but it seems the right answer is letter (ي).. is it? -
Asalam-a-laycum,
I am a teacher in UK and some of my international students are getting together to make an 'international' rap. Some of them are British Arabs (from thew gulf region, yemmen and Egypt), but their Arabic language skillsm are quite poor.
They would like to the following phrases translated into arabic phonetically. For example 'I am simon' would be 'ana ismee simon'
I hope you can help.
Phrases: (all for a male voice)
1. I'm an angry young arab
2. I'm armed with my Sheesha pipe
3. Hold me without charge for 42 days
4. My dishdasha's all wrinkly and the creases won't come out.
5. it's not a halo, it's a gutera
6. I won't air my dirty washing on the 'Jeremy Kyle Show'
7. you can tell I'm a northerner because I've got a broad accent
8. I won't shave my moustche off for you Mr.Brown
9. I quite like orange jumpsuits so there
10. I don't swallow mouthwash because it contains Ethanol
11. My camel uses unleaded petrol
12. I'm not arguing, it's just a very expressive language.
13. I'd take you on a desert safari but I live in Yorkshire (to a girl)
Thanks

Mossadcollege,
I don't want to sound rude, but i wonder if what you are asking is maybe a little much for our hosts. They do an excellent job hosting the show and have a lot of preparation and time going into the website and show. It seems to me a little much to ask for them to translate all that for you, and to transliterate. Maybe you should try to at least translate it yourself and some of the other members could help you with the transliteration?

A small point, in the supplementary vocabulary, 'Falk' should be spelt 'Fork'. Thanks for the plate info. I've heard that, although the description of صحب sounds like a soup plate, dish or bowl, I gather that طبق is also used in the sense of a 'dish' meaning an item on a menu.

Very nice and tricky lesson ,but I like it very much.Below as always some question concerning text(today only one, so not much for correction:)
1)Verb حل
7alla-to solve.
Ex.I can't solve this problem.
لا استطيع ان احول هذه مشكلة
I am confused about pronuncation in present tense(especially vowels) should be something about "ta7oolo".I hear that you pronounce it a bit diffrent like"to7ello".
