Fazzarabic saysWed 3rd Apr 13@12:33 amSalaams. Are you saying - towards the end of the lesson -- that it would be beneficial to memorise the common past tense verb forms in arabic?
-
@Fazzarabic, yes one needs to memorize the past tense third person form of verbs which are usually the roots, and from then on, one should be able to form the present tense forms of the verbs by following the rules mentioned in the lesson

Thanks for getting back to me Moshaya.
Shukran ya akhee -
Moshaya,
I've tried doing a search for the verb forms but can't seem to come across a good comprehensive list. Can you recommend a link/list/file? -
@Fazzarabic, we don't have a list of the most common/beneficial verbs. That's something you should build up during the progress of your studies. You might find lists that other people have put together if you search on Google
-
@Fazzarabic: There is a very good dictionary "Barron's 501 Arabic Verbs", it is an excellent source for verbs in all tenses.
-
In addition to Barron's 501, I recommend Wightwick and Gaafar's "Verbs & Essentials of Grammar," 2nd ed. (list $12.95 U.S.) It has 400 verbs comprehensively indexed in both the English to Arabic and Arabic to English. I'm also using the Barron's, but find the lack of relative lack of indexing to be tedious. Generally speaking, also, everything by Wightwick/Gaafar I've found to be of exceedingly high quality.

And don't forget the Byki lists. You can find verb listings here: http://www.byki.com/listsearch.plex?search=verbs&cid=13&pageNumber=2&sort_type=cards&sort_direction=desc&tl=1 I like the lists by CASAW, which are topic oriented rather than verb listings, but you can look for verb lists there.
