The guy in today's lesson is trying to invite his old friend for a special dinner.     Very useful conversation. A few questions. What was the phrase Morrocans use if they don't know a person? I thought I heard "Muhammad" or something like that. Also if you're invited and you want to compliment the host's food, how do you say that?

    If they don't know somebody then they sometimes call them 'Si Muhammad'. Where 'Si' is short for 'Sidi' in Moroccan Dialect, which is 'sayyedy' in proper Arabic which means Sir/Mr

    Thanks. I was thinking maybe Muhammad and Ehab could do a dialogue about going to the dentist. Using words like cavity, fillings, root canals and things like that. I just went to the dentist and came up with the idea.

    Great website!! I just wish I could more easily tell which new words are Fousah and which are more colloquial (and if they are colloquial, which dialect?)

    I just want to ask why there ب stands before the verb يخلص ?

    What meaning does it make in the expression?

    @frhn, when this letter attaches to the beginning of a present tense verb, it indicates a present continuous. This is used a lot in colloquial. For example:

    يأكل - He eats
    بيأكل - He is eating

    يلعب - He plays
    بيلعب - He is playing
