Lower Intermediate - Abstract Painting
Sierra and Elias present this third lesson in their series on colours. The dialogue that you will hear in the lesson also contains plenty of other useful vocabulary. If you've always wanted to know how to say purple sea in Arabic then tune in!
Thank you for your very imaginative podcast. Here are some suggestions for future lessons:
(1) In the course of my peregrinations through the Internet I’ve come across interrogative sentences such as the following:
maa (ﻤﺎ lawn (ﻠﻮﻦ al-hamaama (ﺍﻠﺤﻤﺎﻤﺔ? What colour is the dove?
maa (ﻤﺎ lawn (ﻠﻮﻦ al-dubb (ﺍﻠﺪﺐ? What colour is the bear?
Since it is useful to know how to make enquiries about colours, this sentence pattern might be dealt with in a podcast consisting of a short dialogue about objects such as motor vehicles.
(2) There are at least two other Arabic adjectives for “pink” and “purple”:
ﺯﻫﺮﻱ : pink
ﺃﺮﺠﻮﺍﻨﻲ : purple
These colour adjectives could easily be worked into a brief narrative text about a purple-veiled woman wandering through a garden and plucking pink flowers.
