Great lesson, Sierra and Elias. Thanks! I was wondering whether Arabic is a language that also has a lot of idiomatic expressions including body parts? Example: "To turn a deaf ear to someone", "to make a face at someone", etc. Maybe you and Elias and/or Mohamed and Ehab could do a lesson on the subject one day?

ﺤﻤﻗﺎﺀ (hamqaa’) is the feminine form of an adjective meaning “stupid”. The masculine form of this word is ﺃﺤﻤﻖ ('ahmaq) (cf. “Joha goes to war”).

"Whats is mean" is not English. In English we say "What does X mean?"

This is twice in one day that I was recognized in a manner most agreeable.Only this morning when I had just finished playing the piano version of the third movement of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and,paused to turn around. Much to my surprise Arthur...that's my dog you know...had quietly slipped from the room, but my wife was sitting in Arthur's favorite place, on my sleeping spot...on my sofa bed!
"What happened to the mutt?" I sniffed.
"Oh, he decided he wanted to be elsewhere.He thinks he's a music critic,you know."
"No I DIDN'T know!" I grumbled. "The ingrate!"
Rising from the sofa bed,Lois took my hands and,looking me in the eyes she said: "Never mind Arthur. You are my 'Ode to Joy'" And, she kissed me...and, life doesn't get any better than that.

Is this beginner or lower intermediate? The pdf says its a beginner lesson but the website says its Lower intermediate.

Great lesson Sierra and Elias, I really like the supplementary vocabulary with their appropriate antonyms, that's definitely one of the best ways to learn adjective and descriptive vocabulary in a foreign language. The lesson it self also was great to be able to be linguistically flexible when asking about a person with the words شخصية . I've rarely heard that expressions before this.

I have a question. Why is the translation for this sentence:

في الحقيقة، لا أعرفه جيداً مع أنّنا كنا نشتغل معاً في الشركة

"Truthfully, I don’t know him well even though we work together in the company"

Shouldn't it be "we worked", since there is the word كنا ?

The translation suggested by Sierra and Elias is correct. The verb in the concessive clause introduced by "ma'a 'anna" is in the past tense although it refers to the present.

A similar rule applies to many English conditional clauses introduced by "if". Ex.: "If I had enough money I would buy a car." "Had" is in the past tense although it refers to the present.

Similarly, we say "I was wondering if you could lend me your dictionary". "Was wondering" is in the past tense because the past tense sounds more polite than the present tense.
