This is very useful, I am getting far better in pronouncing these letters, but I need to get used to it.
I have a problem in pronouncing the vowels, like the word علم/ Flag , I really don't how long should I stretch the ع, because sometimes when I stretch it a lot, people think I am saying عالم, is there a rule in pronouncing vowels?

Sal, the length of stretching vowels is relative, like عالم you make sure that the (عا) is double the time that (لم) takes.
In Arabic, 7arakas (َ ُ ِ ) takes half the time that full vowels (ا و ي) take.

To introduce yourself in Arabic, just say (mar7aba ana Kirina), we've used it in many lessons, in fact if you search in the lessons page for the word (names), you'll find one of our early lessons called (What is your name?).
Using this sentence to introduce yourself is understood all over the Arab countries including Egypt.

i'm having a hard time with ض ظ. They sound the same to me. For example earth is أرض. how would you pronounce it if it was أرظ.

Shukran li aldars mumtaaz. Very helpful indeed.For me, ح وه in dialogues are the most difficult to differentiate .Hope I'll get used to it eventually.
I always feel when I try to make Arabic sound,my throat gets 3D. English and Japanese,they are more like a flat screen..
