Beginner - Levantine: Where were you born?

I thought I would just say Happy New Year to everyone :)

كل عام وأنتم بخير

This was the last lesson of 2010. We wish everyone a good year and hope you stay with us for many years to come.

And Happy New Year six days in!!! If you don't already know كل عام وأنتم بخير is a traditional New Year's greeting in the Arab world. In the Levant, however, it would be written كل عام وأنتو بخير and pronounced "Kil 3am wa-intou bi7'ayr." Literally, it means "Every year and good is with you (all)."

Thank you guys for the Lebanese podcast! I'm married to a Lebanese guy and travel to Lebanon often. In fact, I'm going next week. This podcast gives my language learning motivation a boost to listen to these podcasts. I'm an advanced beginner (or maybe early intermediate) but still learn a lot from the podcasts.

Also, I just wanted to say, I saw Sierra speaking Arabic on Future TV--what an inspiration! It takes a lot of guts to go on TV speaking your second language. :)

Any extra tips on forcing people to speak to me in Arabic while in Lebanon? Now I think I'm good enough to have some decent conversations, but it's hard to resist the pressure to lapse into English.
